Counselling in Loughton

Face-to-face therapy for adults in Loughton, Essex

I offer in-person counselling from a private therapy room in Loughton, working with adults locally as well as those coming from nearby areas such as Epping and Buckhurst Hill.

Many of the women I work with describe feeling under pressure to keep coping, functioning, and holding everything together — even when they feel emotionally exhausted underneath.

My therapy room is based in central Loughton, within walking distance of Loughton Underground Station (Central Line) and with parking nearby. I offer weekly, in-person counselling for adults — with evening appointments available so sessions fit around your working week.

I regularly work with clients based in Loughton, Epping, Buckhurst Hill and the surrounding areas who are looking for a consistent, private space for therapy.

Who I work with

I work with adults who appear capable and composed on the outside, but who privately experience something quite different: persistent self-doubt, emotional exhaustion, difficulty switching off, or a sense of not quite belonging.

Many of the women I work with describe feeling a longstanding pressure to manage everything well, stay emotionally composed, and avoid burdening others with their struggles — even when they feel overwhelmed underneath.

These experiences often don't have a single, obvious cause.

They tend to be rooted in longer-standing patterns — ways of coping, relating, and carrying responsibility that developed over years.

Understanding those patterns is what my work focuses on. You can read more about how I work on the Work With Me page.

If travelling to Loughton isn’t practical, I also offer online therapy across the UK.

What is relational psychodynamic counselling?

If you’re looking for counselling in Loughton that goes beyond surface-level support, this approach may feel different.

Relational psychodynamic counselling is a depth-focused approach that looks beneath the surface of how you're feeling now, to understand the emotional patterns that have shaped you over time.

Rather than offering strategies or techniques to manage symptoms, this approach creates space to explore how your early relationships and experiences have influenced how you see yourself, relate to others, and cope with pressure.

The therapeutic relationship itself — what unfolds between us in the room — becomes part of the work. Over time, this allows change to happen in a way that feels genuinely rooted, rather than surface-level.

It is particularly well-suited to people who think deeply, feel intensely, and are used to managing on their own.

Many women who come to therapy describe feeling emotionally responsible for others from an early age, and struggling to know how to stop coping alone.

What to expect from counselling in Loughton

Sessions take place weekly, at a consistent time, in a calm and private therapy room in central Loughton. Each session lasts 50 minutes.

We begin with a 60-minute assessment session — a chance to talk about what's brought you here and begin getting a sense of what you'd like from therapy. There's no pressure to have a clear story or know exactly what's wrong. Many people begin with a feeling that something isn't right, and understanding develops gradually from there.

Fees are £70 per 50-minute session. I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before you commit to anything, so you can get a sense of how I work and whether it feels right for you.

The consistency of the space is part of what allows the work to deepen over time.

You can read more about how sessions work on the Work With Me page.
