Counselling in Buckhurst Hill
Therapy for women near Buckhurst Hill — a short journey to Loughton
I offer relational psychodynamic counselling for women who appear capable on the outside but feel the emotional weight of that responsibility underneath.
My therapy room is based in Loughton, easily accessible from Buckhurst Hill by car or via the Central Line (one stop). I work with women for weekly in-person counselling sessions, with evening appointments available.
I work with many clients from Buckhurst Hill who are looking for a consistent, private space for therapy.
If you're searching for a counsellor near Buckhurst Hill, this page explains who I work with, what therapy with me involves, and how to take the first step.
The pressure of appearances
Many women looking for counselling near Buckhurst Hill describe a similar experience:
Buckhurst Hill is a prosperous, outwardly successful area — and for many women who live here, there can be a particular kind of pressure that comes with that. The pressure to look composed. To have it together. To match the image of the life you've built.
Many of the women I work with from this area describe a gap between the life they appear to have and how they privately feel. On the outside: capable, accomplished, holding everything together. On the inside: self-doubt, emotional fatigue, or a quiet sense that something doesn't quite fit.
This gap — between external capability and internal experience — is exactly what therapy is designed to address.
If travelling to Loughton isn’t practical, I also offer online therapy across the UK.
What might bring you to therapy
You may not have a single, clear reason for seeking therapy. Often, there isn’t one — instead, there’s an accumulation:
A growing awareness that you're more tired than you should be
A pattern of relationships where you over-give, then feel resentful
A tendency to over-explain, over-apologise, or shrink yourself in social situations
A voice that tells you you're not quite enough — regardless of what you achieve
A sense of going through the motions, even when life looks full from the outside
These experiences are real and worth taking seriously. They often have roots that go deeper than the surface — and therapy offers a space to explore those roots with curiosity rather than judgement.
What therapy with me involves
I offer relational psychodynamic counselling: a depth-focused approach that works with emotional and relational patterns over time.
Rather than offering advice or techniques, I work alongside you to understand how your history, relationships, and ways of coping have shaped how you experience yourself today.
Sessions take place weekly in my Loughton therapy room. The pace is thoughtful and unhurried. You don't need to arrive with a clear story — many clients begin simply with a feeling that something needs to change. You can read more about how I work on the Work With Me page.
My fee is £70 per 50-minute session. I also offer a free 15-minute call before you commit, so you can get a sense of me and how I work.
If you're looking for counselling near Buckhurst Hill that goes beyond surface-level support, this approach may feel different.
